I attended my first birth as an 8 year old – being part of my sister’s birth was a beautiful experience I’ll never forget, and it obviously planted the ‘seed’ of loving all things midwifery! I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of settings and models of care throughout my midwifery career, with the highlight being time spent in continuity models. I have worked in birth centres, rural hospitals and large tertiary centres in NSW and the NT, along with periods overseas assisting with community health projects.
My primary passion in midwifery is to see fear eliminated from birthing journeys and to see future generations of women grow up feeling confident, strong and ready to enter motherhood! I have a particular interest in antenatal education and believe it has such potential to transform birthing and early parenting experiences. I love seeing women and their families learn and grow as they carry and welcome new life, and hope to see continuity models of care become the ‘normal’ for women in Australia in the future.
You’ll find me outdoors whenever I have the opportunity - I love running along Brisbane river, hiking and time at the beach. I also love good food and enjoy cooking and meals out with friends.
