Experience

I knew I wanted to be in the nursing/midwifery profession from the time I was 14 years old. To gain some life experience, I studied nursing first and worked in the fields of women’s health and neonatal care at the RBWH before completing my midwifery studies. Once qualified as a midwife, I worked at North West Private Hospital where I learnt to become more independent in my practice, due to the nature of working in a smaller setting. Since 2015 I have been back at RBWH, broadening my knowledge and finding my home and passion in birth suite.

Midwifery Interest

I have been fascinated by all things birth since I discovered the book “Where Do Babies Come From” when I was about 6 years old. I had always loved hearing my mother’s 4 birth stories also. I find that caring for women and providing them with a safe, loving and empowering birth space and pregnancy journey comes naturally to me. I don’t think there is anything more powerful than watching a woman rock her birth- however that may be.

I was blessed to have an My Midwives midwife care for me during my pregnancy and birth in 2016. This experience reaffirmed why I chose to become a midwife and why I will continue to strive to provide this care to all women I am involved with. My goal is to normalise birth. To share the beautiful stories. To ensure that girls growing up view birth in a positive light and look forward to it with excitement and joy.

Other Interests

My little family and I enjoy travelling- be it trips overseas to favourite places such as Japan, or a quiet weekend in Stanthorpe. I also really love baking when I get the chance!
