Rhea Dempsey

Birth Educator, Birth Counsellor, Birth Attendant, Trainer and Author

It’s been my privilege, over 40 years of working in birth, to have attended over 1000 births in home and hospital settings. Also I’ve been teaching, thinking, speaking and writing about birth throughout that time.

My Passion

I’m passionate about championing normal physiological birth—this means informing couples about the ‘savvy’ choices they need to make to back themselves for normal physiological birth; critiquing the present birth culture; reframing attitudes to pain in labour and describing the benefits of a brilliant ‘holding circle’ including continuity of care midwives such as My Midwives midwives.

Other Interests

Enjoying my (so far) four delicious home born grandchildren.
