I have been a practising Midwife for the last 6 years and in that time I have worked across the midwifery continuum. I have worked in both Tertiary and Rural Midwifery in different locations across Queensland and discovered my passion for continuity Midwifery while working as a Caseload Midwife in my hometown of Longreach for 3 years.
Fundamentally my view and belief of Midwifery is to be ‘with women’. The physiological process of childbirth is an instinctive, primal experience that has its own rhythm and pace and is perfectly designed by nature to bring babies into the world. To be with women in their multifaceted journey, through a time that can only be described as one of the most pivotal events in a woman’s life, is both an honour and a privilege. As a midwife, it is my role to guide, inform and support a woman in her transformation to motherhood ensuring the safety of both mother and child during this transition.
They say you can take the girl out of the country but…! Outside of work you will find me somewhere outside admiring nature and happily snapping away with my camera or helping friends on their farms. My husband and I love to travel and so often our time off will have us going on adventures of all descriptions. My moto: Laugh loudly, love completely and sing like no one is listening!
