Experience
I am a proud First Nations woman with connections to the Gubbi Gubbi and Wakka Wakka peoples. My journey into Midwifery began while working as a nurse in general practice, where I developed a deep passion for maternal health. After the birth of my third child, I returned to study midwifery and later moved to Far North Queensland to work as an MGP Midwife. Working in remote communities deepened my commitment to supporting our women and walking alongside mob through pregnancy, birth and early parenting. Up until recently I have since continued this work with Darling Downs Health in a continuity of care model.
Midwifery Interest
My passion in midwifery is centred around ensuring women and families feel supported, respected and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth and early parenthood. I strongly believe that all women, no matter where they live or who they are, should have access to continuity of care models with a known midwife. I am particularly passionate about improving outcomes for First Nations mums and bubs by supporting culturally safe care and advocating for models of care that keep women connected to their community, culture and Country.
Personal Interest
Outside of midwifery, my greatest joy is spending time with my husband and three children. I love getting outdoors, whether that’s camping, fishing, or heading to the beach for a bit of fresh air and sunshine. Country music is always playing somewhere in the background, and I really value slowing down and enjoying the simple moments with the people I love.
